I have a friend who was born and bread in Joburg. He moved to NYC where he lived for years. He is a six foot tall blue eyed blond African. He is a genuine African American not like these wannabe black folks who have never set foot on the dark continent.

I dont think they need to have set foot in Africa to be called African Americans because in that case the term is being applied to anyone that can trace their heritage back to Africa. My problem is with tacking American on the end even though they may not live in America. I agree and as a Canadian I find it very offensive, arrogant and useless. I don't go around identifying myself as a Scottish Canadian. In fact I don't feel a need to id myself at all. The other interesting thing is that when a black man or woman has a baby with a white man or woman, the kid becomes an African American. Go figure. They lose their European heritage in a blink of a pc eye.

My people did struggle for hundreds and hundreds of years and we were enslaved, and we do have an identity. A very strong one. A very successful one.
