Dear U.S. Bank account holder,

We recently reviewed your account, and suspect that your U.S. Bank Internet Banking account may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. Protecting the security of your account and of the U.S. Bank network is our primary concern. Therefore, as a preventative measure, we have temporarily limited access to sensitive account features.

To restore your account access, please take the following steps to ensure that your account has not been compromised:

1. Login to your U.S. Bank Internet Banking account. In case you are not enrolled for Internet Banking, you will have to use your Social Security Number as both your Personal ID and Password.

2. Review your recent account history for any unauthorized withdrawals or deposits, and check your account profile to make sure not changes have been made. If any unauthorized activity has taken place on your account, report this to U.S. Bank staff immediately.

To get started, please click the link below:

They might have caught me if I hadn't remembered I don't use US Bank, I use a local Credit Union ;-)

I've gotten that one too and it looked closer to authentic than the various paypal and Citibank scams.

Geez, remember when spammers used to have at least a little integrity. These identity theft scams are far more dangerous than a US Wives spam......

Nick missed another opportunity! :P

Some of that damned clever new age marketing. You skip the join page altogether, just get the users bank info and extra the money directly.

This shit would have been especially effective back when there was that IE exploit where you could change the URL appearing in the address bar. So the URL would appear to be that of the US Bank's website. That would have tricked a bunch of people.

They can transfer the money off shore, change address and request new client banking machine cards, create phony checks, cash them at discount check places, etc. There are many many ways to get money out of these scams. It takes a couple of steps to make it hard to track them down, but in the end, they can get the money out and there isn't much that can stop them.

I get 3 to 5 of them a day. I am in Canada. Go figure.

Go to their sites, put in totally bogus info. Make it look real, but like like heck. let them figure out what is good and what isn't.

It looks like what I've been getting for months. From US Bank, Citibank, Chase, etc. Thankfully they are sending them to an address I never use for anything personal so I saw right off they were fake. If you go to the bank sites, they have listings of tens of different subjects of people they've caught.

What ticks me off is that these, along with the Paypal and Ebay scams have the urls working for MONTHS. It's like the people their spoofing don't even turn them in.
