Ok, as many of you know the tail of the guys holding fort at directnic. Buff, Crystal, Sig and Donny are holding down teh fort like champs and of coure Billy who is putting his life on the line. He has some amazing stories!!

I want to blow their minds. I want to BLOW UP BUFF's BLOG!!

I want to see how many posts, support pictures, best wishes, signs, etc.... I am shooting some photos now. I am getting all my friends invovled.

This is a way we can show our love and support and lets get them all the attention in the world!!

Hell Nick - you can SPAM IT OUT!!!!!

They have had a tough 72 hours, I want to energize them - I think this will do it!

You really want to push this puppy? Seriously? This is what you do.

Take some of that money, Nick, Mike, whomever ... go to http://prweb.com get an account and signup for the one-time gold or premium release. Forget what it is, $50, maybe $100 tops.

Get a well-written press release made, utilize Red or Morgan.

Mike, give your email and a phone number as the contact for journalists to use.

Besides PR Web, stagger your bets (so to speak) and also send this out manually to USA Today, CNN, NY Times, the major networks news and morning shows ...

You really want to do it? That is how you do it!!

The media is dying to have something good to cover out of this tragedy. And here is an honest to goodness a courageous story. They'll eat it up if you get it in front of their faces. You only need one major outlet, in fact, to run with it and then they'll all want it.

For those that don't know, directNIC as well as some other NOCs are
located together in a high-rise in New Orleans.

Despite everyone's warnings (including my own!) some tough-as-nails guys
from directNIC stayed behind to battle the hurricane and keep the
networks online.

It also mentions the power shortage, and that they are using diesel
generated power.

I remember a week or two ago people were talking about building
redundant datacenters, off-grid power, failure mitigation, etc.

I think if nothing else, this is at least a success story of building a
NOC which can provide critical infrastructure that will survive major
disasters.

Wow, Katrina was huge.

We are a group of people that were left behind as the hurricane arrived, so we could
protect our interests. During this time we spent a great deal of effort battling broken
windows, incoming water, and flying debris.

The looters are insane - right outside of our window they're pushing around shopping
carts full of goods.

We have been documenting all of our experiences, taking pictures, and have a live streaming
webcam setup from downtown New Orleans. Our journal is a place for people to share first hand
experiences of the disaster, and to just talk with like minded people. We are in an ISP
data center running off backup generators, so luckily we can still be online!

Buff's blog link just made it through a homeschooling list here in Virginia - if they only knew what his "other" job was, LOL. But those ladies are some real networkers and they'll send some traffic his way.

I understand wanting to protect the business and the servers but guys if it comes down to it GET THE HELL OUT!!! Buff it's no time to be stubborn, your life is more important!
