It's all shaving. Shaving via mobile is just one of the latest and most popular ways that programs are cheating their affiliates.
I remember talking to the AdultDateLink people several years ago about setting up a white label dating site for me to use for one of my better dating domains. I was to make 50% of the joins. As I always do when working with a new company, I signed up as a customer to see what happens... what they go through and what I get compensated for. I've never seen a site do so many upsells. If I remember right (and they probably still do this now) there was 2 pre checked boxes on the join page, then after you logged in you were hit with a box / offer that looked like it was something you were suppose to click on but it was another up sell that charged your cc if you clicked it. There were cross sales on the cancel page, etc... I calculated that most people who joined for the $30 a month membership were going to be hit with about $150 - $200 in charges from their first month.
So my first question was, do I make 50% of all of that and they said no, I only make 50% of the main site join. SO I would make 50% of $30 ($15) and they would keep the other $150 - $200. Now keep in mind when the guy gets his credit card and see several different $20- $40 charges they going to cancel everything. There was very little chance someone would rebill for more than 1 month unless they were dead or just didn't ever check their statements. Which the site didn't care, they were basically paying $15 PPS and banking about $150 per sale.
If I wouldn't have checked myself and asked I would have never known. You have to thoroughly check out the companies you promote to make sure they are no traffic leaks.
