IE is already apparently down near about 52%. Chrome is going to take market from both of the big players, so even if they end up with 20% of the browser market (and I suspect more) they will push IE well under 50%, probably as low as 40% of the market.
I think we can look forward to IE8 being a "non-event" browser.
Gonzo, I think you are correct too: the time for the scammers, jammers, and malware pushers may be coming to an end. Firefox is already MUCH better than IE, and Chrome looks to really block things out well, making it pretty hard to use the browser as an attack weapon.
