Finding god is an easy answer, because the church and their minions will tell you what to think, they will surround you with other people thinking the same thing, and you no longer actually have to be very responsible for much of your life. Much of the way that the church plays out is "don't do anything except work, eat and go to church", which leaves the recent convert little time to think past the end of their noses.

For porn girls, it goes one step further, because once your past life becomes known, there is a huge pressure to confess, do your penance, which is often to speak out and turn others away from the evil that is porn. That is why these girls don't seem to be able to "just leave porn", but rather they have to come back and beat people over the head with their choice.
