As for Tev's comment about being honest, that one escapes me. Because I choose to use a pen name when posting on the boards, that somehow shows that I must be dishonest and have something to hide rather than not wanting everyone in my community knowing what I do. I would like to add my own 2 cents here and say that it really doesn't matter if people use their real names here in adult, or not.
Some people chose to use fake names for no reason, while others use it because of the way so many people publicly view the porn industry. Susie homaker likes porn, wants to make porn, but doesn't need the headache of her uppity next door neighbour finding out, at least not yet. Therefore she'll choose a fake name.
When I meet someone at a show with a name such as "Dirty D", "Hammer", "Sleazy", etc, to me, this is THEIR NAME, PERIOD. I won't judge anyone using a fake name in adult, nor will I give any bonus points to anyone who openly declares their real name either. For me, I just don't care.
All I care about is what they do, how they do business, what their product is (or how they can sell mine). That's it!
Regardless, when someone does not want to use their real name, you should respect their wishes. Why? Because it is something they want to keep private. Lots of people here have mainstream businesses, families and other interests to protect.
If you're about to do business with someone in adult, the legal names come out anyway when it comes time to write the check, right? If we are going to write a check to Hammer and his company name is Hammer, Inc, thats good enough for me.
