Is it a waste of time? I'd say yes to a point, because performers get tired of free chit chat for 8 hours of hearing: "stand up", "turn around", "show me yur tits", just a peek", "show me your ass", and tons more attempts to freeloaf.
It's fine for about the first few million times, but then it becomes arrogant and frustrating for performers.
