Alaska has always been an interesting thought as a place to live for me as well. Very unlikely though as my roots run deep here with family and friends all being right here.

But if i ever did decide to escape, Alaska has some appeal. No state tax. Affordable property. Though getting supplies, repairs, etc would be a bitch.

The long days and nights are no problem, I can sleep in daylight or dark. I also dont need to be around big crowds.

The problem is toys and food. I'd have to totally change my lifestyle and eat in regularly. And getting toys imported would cost a bit. I could keep power online with redundant generators, big batteries, etc. But I have to wonder how reliable the internet is that far north. A 90 day outage while waiting on a thaw would suck major ass.
