That was their business plan from day one. All makes sense now as to why anyone would burn thru investment money at that rate paying what may very well be the world's largest hosting bill to host all those videos with basically no restrictions.
$1.6 billion...
The hosting bill I'm sure seems insignificant alongside that.
Now Google on the other hand, also likely wont see any real ROI that comes close to that figure even after peppering YouTube with ads, but it fits within their business plan of being everything to everyone on the internet. The nice folks at Google would love for people to refer to the Internet as "Google".
