To exspand on what Brian said a bit, If the browser your using doesn't recognize the ext of the page then it will read it as plain text. So forefox and mozilla don't support shtml and thats what was causing the problems (I had no idea till brian explained it to me fully while we were sitting outside BS'ing) all he did was rename it from shtml to html and problem solved.
He threw out a lot of words like 'parsing' and shit like that, but the bottom line is it's fixed now and I want to thank Toby for bringing it to our attention.
