Bullshit dude. Surfers were the first ones to ever wear socks with sandals. It's called formal wear dude.
Fucking hippies couldn't afford socks and they wore sandals made out of animal skin. Surfers wear rubber "water shoe" type sandals and like I said L.A. surfers were probably the first ones to start wearing socks with sandals so they could get into the clubs.
