Not exactly but closer to me than those mentioned.

The perfect spy, according to the experts, is someone with almost no stand out features, and very average. Somone who can be totally forgetable and who can easily change features with makeup and disguises. In the "Anglo" world, that would be an person of average height, average build, average complextion, who looks to be of no definitely nationality, with either dirty blonde or mousy brown hair, either brown or dull grey eyes. Some one who can buy a newspaper at a convenience store and the clerk can't remember the person an hour later.
Dravyk...if I may interrupt the Brit love fest for a moment...you're exactly correct regarding "real spies." I read a lot of spy novels. I collect the books of Jack Higgins, who is not the world's greatest writer but he's a wowzer of a story teller. I've read a great deal of Ludlum. Matt Damon, who did an excellent job in the movies, I admit, bore absolutely no resemblance to the Jason Bourne in the books, who was much older. In any good spy novel, the "hero" is totally nondescript. In bad spy novels, he's either stunningly handsome, has "piercing eyes" or some such nonsense. One of Jack Higgins' main characters is Sean Dillon, who is short, has pale blonde hair and "cold eyes," but since he's former IRA and is usually infiltrating the IRA...he actually is nondescript for the world in which he works...if you follow that.
