I actually woke up (literally, I'd fallen asleep) in the middle of my tubal ligation. The birth of the youngest was such a rush and I was so excited, that I wore myself out and fell asleep. I'd had a spinal block, so that took care of the anesthesia. However, they scrambled to put the curtain in place so that I didn't see my doctor cutting me open. A face appeared above my head and said "HI! How are you doing?" brightly to change my focus. My doctor *did* keep the joking promise he'd made to me in his office...and said "oops!" during the surgery. Oh, my, you should have seen the nurses freeze! I laughed and told them he'd set that one up, it was cool.
Operating room humor. Gotta love it.
