The GFYers are kids for the most part. They missed the hey day, and their peer group and the guys they look up to are doing this for beer money or maybe slightly better.
Many of the most prominent posters over there have day jobs and make just enough in adult to party a bit.
And the real sad thing is the sponsors buy into this shit too to some degree. I'll use the parties at shows as my favorite examples. Whose inside? Whose getting VIP passees? Ok, first off the guys who you KNOW and do business with, that's as it should be. But for the ones you bring in who you DONT KNOW, but think you'd LIKE TO KNOW, they're pulling in the "personalities". Post count matters, knowledge of the biz does not, perception is everything.
These guys are freeloaders. Their game is posting on the board til someone buys into their shit and throws 'em a bone. Meantime they might pause long enough to submit a few galleries daily to keep the beer money flowing.
You're big shit over there if you can afford a 3 year old Bimmer.
Someone wanna make a fortune? Figure out a way to replace "post count" under avatars on the boards with "Net Worth" or "Hits Per Day" or "$$$ Per month".
