I use a laptop only these days. Really you can't do a whole lot of upgrading to a laptop no matter who it is from and Apple does make nice laptops.

Sounds like they have been getting less proprietary then. That's always good when you can pick and choose from a variety of manufacturers and price points when you want to add on.
