I had the pleasure of hearing her speak at a small dinner( 30-40 people) once in Birmingham. She comes across as a very intellegent and caring person. This was at a research center at University of Alabama. Their main focus is birth defects and the prevention through prenatal health care. Ms. Rice has some very strong thoughts on this subject and health care in general.
It was good to see her mingle with the common folk. After the dinner she took quite a bit of time to speak to a young woman that was pregnant. When the Secret Service told her it was time to leave she told them she wasn't ready yet. She spent another hour just sitting around a table talking to the people that were left, about 10 of us. It was an experience I'll never forget.
Now, lets see how she does as Secretary of State.
