Most royal families in the world are a joke... symbolic power, hundred of years of inbreeding, visionless and without any charisma. I think there are only a handful that are actual trying to make good use of the media attention they are receiving - rest of them are on a direct path that will only lead them with the choice to abdicate or get kicked out of their castles.

If people really want a monarchy, then it should not be possible to inherit any position in the monarchy - instead it should be decided in sword fights, or by slaying dragons h34r:
