Funny about the
'non processed foods' is the key ;-)
Whole foods are better than processed foods in many ways. Less additives for flavor, less carbohydrates, natural sugars instead of processed sugars. All of these have effects on your pancreas, which is the key enzyme secreter that aids with healthy digestion, and breaking down of ingested foods and proper distribution of nutrients. People with pancreatic problems can eat healthy and maintain a good eating lifestyle, and still show up malnourished do to pancreatic insufficiencies. This being said, a healthy pancreas is a must. I would suggest everyone get a pancreatic enzyme workup next time you go get lab work done with your physical. Something as simple as missing a key enzyme could cause you to gain fat or lose muscle.
I've come to the conclusion that there are 2 primary food groups ...
nutrients and waste ....
everything that is waste builds up in your body and deposits as toxins, making it harder for your body to take nutrients from food and making you need to eat more to get the same energy (which equals unnecessary weight gain) ... big nasty cycle that continues to build up more and more until the toxins start to damage the blood (cancer), blockages in arteries (heart problems), toxins grouping together and gathering in places (tumours), toxins eating holes in stomach/bowell lining (ulcers) etc ... all serious health problems can be led back to the things we put into our mouths and the toxins they produce, but because modern medicine treats symptoms, most of us don't notice the build up over time until its too late.

I disagree, there is more to it than that. Genetics is the primary cause of diabetes and heart disease. You can be predetermined for any of it, but living a healthy lifestyle will surely increase your chances of never having any problems.
Outside stressors can account for much... meaning STRESS without a proper outlet can lead to heart problems, ulcers, strokes, etc. A good regimine of excercise is a good way to deal with the Stress that life brings ( i prefer the heavy bag and dumbells
As far as cancer goes, the only proven science detrmines it has most to do with genetics. if cancer runs in your family, you run a significantly higher risk of developing it. certain nutrients, called antioxidents, can slow r even prevent the triggering effect of rampant cel growth.
You are very right in saying that living and eating well is the way to go. But even the most healthy of people can die, just ask 70s fitness guru jim fixx (heart attack on morning run)
the most important thing is water. It is the stuff of life. 80% of our bodies. tied into salt tables, electrolytes, healthier red blood cells, stronger muscle fibers and te health of every organ.
of courseone can drink too much water. i read an article about a woman who ingsted a toxin, and was told to drink water. well she drank 3 galons in one hour and died of electrolytic imbalance, so theres bad in every good i guess
