Evolution says we stay - the world need democracy. This is prehaps the first arab country with a real chance of democracy, and we can not give up now, because some desert mullahs think they got Allah on their side.
Most of the world countries are not democratic - they are runned by dictators, juntas, and religious fanatics. These countries are scared that they are next, however if the US pulls out now, then they know that they are more powerful, than any democratic movement.
Bush might have lied to himself, the US people, and to the rest of the world, saying it was because of terror and Saddam Iraq was invaded, but the cards have been dealt now, and we got a chance of starting a democracy.
What should have been done a long time ago was getting the EU involved in Iraq, and make it a project of the democratic countries in the world, and not just a US project..
