Sorry, folks ... Nixon combined the two holidays and created President's Day back in '71, or 12 years before the MLK holiday was created. Can't blame "them" for this one, although the arguement does certainly appeal to some folks.

ahem... I did not say it was because of MLK... I said they existed PRIOR to MLK and combined them because of the too many holidays....
I couldn't remember when, but it seems it was about the time that they started moving all the holidays to Monday...
