I grew up in a VERY strict household where my mother was always worried about what people would say about HER in reference to what we wore or did. As a result, we weren't allowed to wear T-shirts or "dungarees" outside the house and I wasn't allowed to wear pants to school. My school also had a strict dress code - just not as strict as my mother

- no sneakers OR white socks for the boys, no opened back or opened toed shoes for the girls, etc. And needless to say, G_d WILL strike you down if you wear white after Labor Day or before Easter!
It must have been one of the ONLY things I didn't rebel against as I still dress conservatively. I don't think I've ever worn a t-shirt outside the house, lol!
But I do get a special kick out of the thought of my son visiting with her when he's wearing a t-shirt as I know she's twitching and convulsing inside. :P
