I must epitomize the typical white undangerous female American because I've never had to do anything but walk through the metal detectors. I even make sure I wear clean socks and they never have me take off my shoes.
(of course, now that I've said this "out loud", I have jinxed myself and they will perform a full strip search AND mess up my perfectly packed suitcase........)
