I appreciate your desire to increase impressions, but if the insinuation is that the Ramones started punk... good god. Stick with what you know Serge.
As for my answer, I dont think anyone one band / person can be pointed to as the originator of punk. There are many styles of punk. Punk rock is not just a sound, its also a state of mind. I have my ideas of how it all started and whom influenced whom, but Fletch can give a better description of the progression of rock into punk rock.
