There is no tie in between emotional response and intelligence level that would back that up. In fact, I believe that you will find that if you compared the emotional ("kneejerk") response of a highly intelligent group against that of a "normal" intelligence group, you will find the more intelligent group to have the stronger emotional "kneejerk" reaction. You will also find a much higher concentration of neuroses and psychoses among the group with the higher intelligence. So, an uncontrollable emotional response ("kneejerk") may actually be a sign of the presence of intelligence.
