Mike it is and I do remember trying to talk you into building a studio last year.
I think that many studios were premature in their setup a year or two ago. I can understand someone’s reluctance in having to manage talent all the time. It is a pain but when you really start to break it down to the cost effectiveness of it all it makes perfect sense.
You have live content which is going to be the one thing that holds retention. Especially when you make it more personal for the subscribers. They get to know the girls and if the girl is trained and monitored properly she starts to create a fan club. That base makes everyone money. You also have them there and can produce more content to resell.
There are pro and con’s to home set-up and letting the girls just do their thing. Professional cam girls are just that, professional and work better alone at home. Still if you don’t train and hire monitors and trainers to help them you’re leaving them to their own devices. (slouching, bad angles, etc.) I still would always lean towards the studio setup for several reasons:
1) She has a schedule, it’s a job and no outside distractions (boyfriends watching TV in the next room, etc.) Her mind set is, “I’m at work and I work till…”
2) A few hours before or after her shift (and during live shows) you snap some video and stills. This is content to use, sell or promote.
I’m not sure if anyone has really looked at the numbers or realistic ways to do this but I promise you they will be forced to. Everyone is looking for ways to retain and what better way then live content that is interactive? I’m not so sure the PPV minute plan will be as successful once this happens because if a webmasters hires a crew of girls to provide content for his subscribers he’s going to pay a monthly subscription and come visit his favorite girl. You can still have some one on one or extra up sell perks but if you want him to bill month after month he needs to see a little action without trashing his Visa.
Mike your amateur sites would do very well with cams at home if you get one of your managers or train someone to work with the girls all the time. Develop bonus programs and perks that make them excited about doing it. You’ll make more money in the long run. If you’re spending more then 5K per month to a girl giving you content on contract then it’s worth setting her up with the right hardware and letting her & you earn more money.
