I think I want to do a gay site or a shemale site (not sure yet) so if I do one of those, can I get away with say 20 downloadable movies, 5 feeds, 2k pictures, etc? or do I need more?

My advice for gay or shemale styled sites is to seek out the master of the niche and that would be Spaz. Im sure hes availible for some consulting.
