I think the whole world should be allowed to be happy about "Iraqi freedom", even the late-comers. Even the al-Jazeera crowd. No one should have to live in tyranny. I'm glad the US, UK, Australia and the coalition of the willing is delivering that. Nice tag-along to the real reason we are in Iraq. WMDs.
This IS, after all, still about WMD's. All that talk in the UN about 17 resolutions wasn't for nothing and Colin Powell's excellent UN presentation didn't include any pictures of oppressed Iraqi's. Iraqi freedom was an afterthought. Most of them will hate us in a year anyway. Success depends on finding bio or chemical nasties - and I think we will - but we haven't yet. War's not even over yet. More time for that later. There is tactical military success which for all intents and purposes has already been achieved, and MOST brilliantly. The reason the war was waged has as of yet not even been validated. It's too early to declare anyone "right about everything".
Certainly, Iraqi's cheering in the streets of Iraqi cities added some points to US prestige and so did a quick victory. No doubt about that. US might even be able to market this as a political victory without the WMD's. Maybe, but it would be quite a blow to our new non-proliferation strategy. With the WMD's, it will be a tremendous victory.
Oh, yeah. The US/UK/Australia kicked ass! US planning was SUPERB!
