As far as i can remember, dutch is actually a swearing nickname to people from Holland.
I believe it comes from the days, that europeans where going around in their wooden ships & collected country´s and shipping slaves around (we dutch where one of the biggest....not proud of that offcourse).
Anyways, in the mean time the word dutch has become a "normal" word (i try to avoid it, because many people confuse it with deutsch....that´s germany bla bla bla bla).
