Getting paid via paypal is handy for those of us who live outside the US, yet have a US presence. No wire transfer fees..but none of my sponsors currently pay me that way and it's no big deal. But PayPal saves me huge hassles in PAYING my bills. All my feeds, hosting, etc. gets paid through them.
Maybe that person has a foreign PayPal account. Who knows.
Oh, and PayPal isn't legally a bank, though they may have to report like one. That's why you can't get a checking account with them.
