I'm 41 and was raised in the south by southern parents (who had southern parents) and while we always said "Tiger", it was well known and giggled about what word "Tiger" replaced. My mother's father was VERY racist, or I'd probably never even heard it at all. My parent's generation probably said it routinely, but not mine.
