i find nothing more insulting than someone who will name-call and big-note on a message board, only to back down when in person, or when faced with reason.

Exactly. Case in point. I recall in 2K Brad Shaw calling me a cunt on netpond. Shortly thereafter I met him in his booth in New Orleans..he was sweating bullets.
I walked up, smiled, said, "Hi, I'm Heather" in a friendly way. He went kinda cross-eyed and suddenly I was overwhelmed with his staff offering me every goodie in the booth as a distraction.
I guess he thought that I was going to punch him or something. Fact is, he pussied out, and I wasn't even being threatening. Prime example of someone that talks big on the boards but doesn't have the balls to back it up in person.
But when someone has met you and says something vicious and meant to hurt, I think it's pretty difficult to not take it personally. Cry over it and worry about it forever? No. But I do remember several people being upset, including a certain friend of mine posting not to take things personally, about some anon posts a couple of years back.
Hey, we all have feelings. If the person is just some nobody anon, no biggie, if you know them, it can be different.
