I have been very disappointed with air security since 9/11. I've flown many times and nothing seemed any different than before - except for a few months after 9/11.
False negatives mean explosives are getting through.
Fales positives mean I should leave home earlier for my flight.
If what you are saying is true - that the equipment is giving many false positives, well that IS success to me. That makes me feel somewhat safer. Anything we can eliminate as a weapon on a plane increases safety.
