If you have DirecTV check out Playboy's Hot Zone channel. They list the Homegrowns as "Amateur Videos" and mix them in with Vivid gonzo fare.
They make us give the videos/scenes names like "Refreshing Taste", "In the Mood" or "The Watering Hole", as opposed to the real names like "Volume 468- Susie and Johnny fuck by the hottub, or vol. 595- Mona's Gangbang.
Seems counterintuitive.
As for the lesser % payout I believe deals were made to get more channels up. It is pretty obvious some shrewd moves have been made by Vivid
