Once, when I was doing a lot of employment law, a "psychic" who was employed by the local franchise of the "Psychic Friend's Hotline" came to discuss legal remedies for unpaid wages. The married couple who owned the franchise were known as "Apollo and Celestial Diamond"...
The "psychic" told me she was NOT psychic, that she never claimed she was, and the name of the game was to keep people on the phone as long as possible. She said the conversations ranged from comical to tragic, with very sincere people expecting her to give them advice on all kinds of important issues in their lives. She was a former hooker, recovering from Hepatitus C, so took the job because it was physically undemanding.
I left Apollo and Celestial Diamond a message on their phone, after they failed to return several calls, and advised them they should "foresee" an action for unpaid wages with the Labor Board soon if they didn't pay up. Apollo called and said that was a cheap shot, and that he didn't like me (oh waaaahhh) but they paid within the week.
All's well that ends well, except for the unfortunate believers who were talking to a phony psychic looking for answers at $3 a minute.
