I've stayed at both the Venetian and Treasure Isand

The rooms at the Venetian are nicer (and more expensive) but Treasure Island has ok rooms and home to Mystere

Actually the walk isn't that bad, maybe about 20 minutes to the convention floor and you can go without ever going street level (cross above the street on skywalk) and go through the huge mall in the Venetian (which has a very cool magic shop )
