XBIZ 360 - Digital Media Conference -Los Angeles, 2013 - pictures from FUBAR

Here we go with the 1st of the 3 shows, that I shot this past couple of weeks. Tried to make it sooner, but the internet service at the hotel was @ its crappy usual self.

Now back to things at hand the pictures, we have them all, the show, the parties, the XBIZ Awards.

Please check them out under, "Latest Event Photo Gallery"

Thanks to Alec and Moe Helmy, for the star treatment and to our sponsors Ero Advertising and Adult Webmaster Empire without whom it would not have been possible.

congrats, HP. They always have these shows at the worst time of the year for me. I am in Thailand, heading for Laos then Vietnam......Vegas just seems so far away from the beach and the food sucks to....lol.
And the nightlife here is far superior and really cheap.

I believe HP took in the shows the same way I did, from the comfort and convenience of my desk chair. :okthumb:

Not really much ROI at these shows any more for those of us that would have to be there on our own dime.

Toby , you would probably pleasantly surprised if you attended one of the current events. The business has evolved, you'd probably hardly know anyone there, great business opportunity:okthumb:

I'm an affiliate webmaster that specializes in the fetish wear niches. I don't need processing. I don't need SEO optimization. I don't need dating sponsors. The people I'd be most interested in talking with are other affiliate webmasters and independent site owners that also work the same niches I do. Most of them are based out of the UK and Germany these days. I doubt there were many, if any, at either show this month. What other business opportunities am I missing?

Toby, I cant tell you how to make money with what you do. You been around for a while, so you must know a thing or two about your business.

Not sure how many webmasters were there in you nieche, but I know one thing, Europeans are coming over in droves, predominantly from Germany.

You never know where an idea will come from, associating with like minded people, never hurt me yet.:okthumb:

The problem with that is it then becomes more or less random chance that I bump into one of these people that may inspire an idea. Tough to justify spending $1200-$1600. I'd need to know well in advance that at least some of the people I wanted to connect with were going to be there.

I attended one or two shows a year until a few years ago. If I do attend another show it won't be in LA or Vegas, maybe Montreal.

Montreal is not a bad choice, but also, most promoters publish a list of participants now, which makes it easier to identify potential opportunities.

The list would be helpful IF I were looking to meet with company owners or reps. Unless they also put people like me and independent site owners on that list it wouldn't do me much good. I'd also need to have that list several months in advance in order to make travel and hotel plans.

I'm not saying there would be no benefit to attending, just that I don't think it likely that I'll see a justifiable return on the money I'd spend to be there. Particularly when you take into account that I can contact most of these people from where I'm sitting right now.

I actually find travelling sometimes a good choice. When I go to Europe, I do content trades and meet people in my end of the biz. And as Toby mentioned, when you specialize like we do, there ain't much at these conventions except temptation and hubris that can misguide a boutique business. Tomorrow, like the last time I was here, I have meetings in Bangkok. And their ain't a bar in Vegas as cool as a Bangkok sky bar or a night on Soi Cowboy. A happy mix of focussed productive business, pleasure and endless 2 buck mojitos and 10 dollar massages.

I just wanted to be the first to say it for once. I don't even know the date of the show, so's how out of touch I am with that circuit these days. There's a chance I was in Caribbean eating jerked chicken and drinking foo foo rum drinks while this was going on.

Now granted, if I were a flunky for one of the companies still sending employees to these things you can bet I'd be singing the praises too so I would be booked to go to the next one.

I'm with Toby. No knocks on the shows without actually attending, but I do not really need or want anything from them at this point.

Only way I'm likely to go is if somebody puts one on in a location I want to visit at a time of year I might actually want to go there. That makes it a no lose scenario for me.

Only ones I know of coming up are Phoenix and the seemingly never ending string of European shows. No interest in Phoenix, and if I'm going to Europe I'm not wasting any of my time there at a webmaster show.

Out of the "usual" venues, I'd do Vegas just because I always like Vegas. I might or might not even make an appearance on show floor though to be honest. Tampa will always lure me just so I can eat at Berns. San Fran is another I'd do just because I like the town.

I dont see Montreal on the calendar....I'd consider that too.
