Ok, what did I miss? What is the issue with PSG?

I am confused.

I have read all the posts and threads and have not seen what the issue is with PSG.

So he said "you might want to check my sig" for this or that, probably not the best thing to say around here, but definitely not the worst thing that's been said around here.

So, is there some other reason for the animosity?

I just found it amusing that someone already tagged with sigwhore status was whining about not being able to edit his avatar and sig.

As to specifically what led to the sigwhore status, I'm not sure. I was out of the loop for a few days while in SF.

No animosity on my part. Just stuck editing and shit and was kinda bored. When the pictures were rendering, I was exercising my fingers, watching buddy painfully trying to spit out responses. Since no one wants to touch "the pond" issue around here...God knows why since it is a rather catastrophic and rather interesting issue no matter what the resolution, I needed distraction.

Well, I would assume for playing the role of sigwhore.

But it appears you took his sig away and he stayed anyway.

So, maybe he has some other reason for coming around here. Maybe he is seeking a home? Perhaps he has something to offer? Or perhaps he has something to learn?

Or, maybe he's just a sigwhore.

I have nothing to contribute to that subject. Sorry.

Only thing worse than a sig whore is a sig whore with a sense of entitlement.

I dont hang out on Netpond so theres little I can contribute.

Meat and Aga have proven themselves to be better friends in the long run than most. As bad as it looks I will be just as I was with Naked Rhino and TMM and wait to see what reveals itself.

In the end very little was revealed, and affiliates didn't fare well. :thumbdown

I do hope NP's affiliates fare better.

What I find interesting is the lack of interaction between management and stakeholders in this issue. Especially all the off shore activity involved. If this was anyone else, the whole business would be up their ass with hot pokers. This is either the end of an era....not just for the pond, but a business model, a whole way of making a living on the net and an ethic that is perhaps as unsustainable as prohibition and the depression. Or, its a blip on the radar and these trusted and seemingly savvy individuals are playing high stakes poker with an end game in their sights and all the affiliates will get paid what they are owed with a bonus and all will be well, because that is what it will take to save reputations and a business. Both are extreme outcomes and it might play out somewhere in between feast and famine, but personally I can't see that. I think its a curiosity with casualties at best. But in any case its a heads up that its a new game we are all playing and its time to get it right for porn, the next generation. That is why I think it is worth the discussion.

Im not much for a pay to post biz model on a board to begin with.
But Im not clear how or if that intertwines with the affiliate program.

I think it only intertwines in terms of not having the cash to payout on either.

Re: Ok, what did I miss? What is the issue with PSG?

I dont think it's getting much play because that's not a big program outside of the netpond community.

And community being community, I think they want to see and think the best of their "leaders". I haven't been over there literally in years, so I'm not qualified to comment beyond that. I dont know the make up, so I'm reluctant to use words like "naive".

Here's the reality though, and this applies not just to our business, but as we've seen pretty much ALL industries. When you have a downturn like this NO ONE is safe, NO ONE is exempt or bulletproof. And in some cases, bad things are going to happen to good people.

In other cases, even people with solid reputations are going to be forced to do things for survival they would've never thought of a few years ago. At this point, there's absolutely NO program on the adult web that it would actually shock me to see in trouble. I look for more to fall, be sold or just quietly fade away.

Re: Ok, what did I miss? What is the issue with PSG?

I am wondering if this the proverbial thinning of the herd or will the void be filled? If that is the case, will it be filled by new players with new ideas or will it be filled by the existing large programmes or a shit pot of smaller sights. Who will be making serious money over the next three years, I wonder? Or has the serious cash disappeared along with the novelty of porn?
