Top Bucks to Get Out of Site Membership Biz ?

Anyone else catch this off of AVNonline?

"Although Cyberheat defended the case vigorously throughout and remains convinced that it would have won at trial, it ultimately settled the case for just over $400,000, a fraction of the amount demanded and obtained by the government in similar lawsuits involving CAN-SPAM. According to Wellborn, ‘Cyberheat's three-year battle included a number of hard-fought victories vindicating the rights of Cyberheat and its affiliates. Nonetheless, as the cost of settling decreased, as the cost of defending continued to grow, and as the negotiated deal moved farther and farther from the onerous terms the government typically demands and gets in these cases, it became prudent to settle.' The settlement was also made possible by Cyberheat's planned departure from the business of owning and promoting websites."

I can understand if they wanted to given the pain defending yourself froma determined government can be but I hope they don't. They are a top notch sposnor and always have been. Would be a sad day for affiliates to lose a sponsor that has been a good as Top Bucks over the years. have done plenty of business with them and it has ALWAYS been a good experience. :okthumb:

It sort of reads more like left hand right hand stuff. Many sponsors from the early days go on strong with changes in the names of the owners but the same players in and around the product. There are various reasons why this happens, and certainly satisfying an FTC settlement would be a good reason to have a change of ownership.

The current owner(s) form an offshore trust. That trust owns a company called "Topbucks Affiliates 2008 Inc" which purchases the program. Now the original owners no longer "own" the paysites. You can go even one step further creating an offshore company to hold the US based company, and have the trust own the offshore company.

Dancing with stars has nothing on modern corporate ownership structures.

DeeCash has been buying up other programs left and right for the last year or so.

ok? So how is this objectively played out financially between a movie distributor? or movie sponsor owner?
and lets say has a content provider? which direction do you find is best? and in what advantages are they best has?
Sell to a distributor? Market your own product?
I know your gonna say "both" but I'd like more detailed advise please?

The Deecash crew are very good at spotting programs that are either not doing as well as they could, have dead ended, grown to the limits under current management, have been abused by their owners (see Epictrash) or who have owners that have become absentee landlords in many senses. My feeling is that they are working a "formula" with these programs to bring them up to snuff or at least to extra significantly more revenue out of them, recouping their investment much more quickly then they would if they just trying to spew out paysites of their own inside their single program.

In reality they are also buying contact to webmasters. If each program has an established base of webmasters that overlaps only 30% with every other program, each new program adds successful webmaster to their contact lists. I would expect Deecash people to leverage this in some manner in the future.

...incredible

Advantages here being possibly "re-promoting" the same content to new surfers? :scratchin I mean WTF please?
and for that matter? ...
It's just cheaper to promote by just buying them out???
And how much of this recycled amateur porn, Do you believe venturous webmaster will find or discover worth spending interest in investing in?

Well, think about it. The list of programs that was put up there, most of them were either underdeveloped, or were short time stars that sort of faded away. Even Mayor Money, which was a pretty decent program all considered with a fewdecent amateur girls in it didn't really have major updates in a while, outside of a new gallery added this week most of them hadn't had an update in 5 to 8 months (gallery wise).

So now, if you go back and mine some of the previous content, clean it up and make it look fresh, those sites can once again appear to have updates. Heck, if the models are still available and into it, shoot another 20-40 sets, mix it in with existing stuff, and you have a year worth of updates (and a year worth of new galleries you can push on your affiliates each week). Even if the model doesn't shoot another day, you can still recycle enough content to make it look like something is happening, and that is enough to get affiliates to push the sites again and for signups to come back in.

You have to think of it like buying a run down gas station convenience store, rebranding it with your corporate logo, clean up, paint, and relogo the place, and make it look all fresh and happening - and then sell the same shit that was on the shelves last week that you bought at a discount from the previous owner.

There are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of paysites and programs in this very same situation, use to be good, use to be popular, never was quite popular, ran out of content, ran out of desire, ran out of profit... that in the right circumstances they can be turned around on the cheap and turned into little profit centers.

It also goes with my personal theory that there are some people out there happy to take adult, which was a 50% plus margin business and turn it into a very efficient 5% margin business. More and more I see business models and ideas that have low margins, which make their money on huge volumes rather than high margins.

Tube sites... example. :)
