How much is a customer worth to you?

Ok folks, let's talk turkey here......
I'm not looking to sell you something just yet, but I'm trying to gather some real world numbers as to what a confirmed customer is worth to you. It's easy to see what a sale is worth. Just check the payouts on affiliate programs.

But how about this:

What is it worth to you, to expose your service/product/content to a customer paying attention? I mean, if you could be assured they were paying attention because they had to answer a question correctly in order to count.
You wouldn't be "charged," unless they answered correctly.

What would that be worth to you, and how often would you be willing to have them re-exposed to your "ad?"

You can make multiple selections on the Poll

I think to answer this question properly you need to examine how much you make on the average off of each customer. Doesnt matter if its average order or retention length.

Too many new porgram dont get this and come out of the gate offering pay persign up and other major mistakes without first knowing how well that traffic converts.

Major mistake.

This has nothing to do with any current medium you have ever worked with.

Don't base it on the "affiliate mentality."
This is more like selling on a general TV channel in that, anyone might see it. (Of adult age)

Not coming from another adult website, link farm, or anything like that.

Oh, and it wouldn't be predatory in nature. It would not compete with any other form of existing adult advertising. This would be a new area, where adult advertising is thin-to non existant, as in, there is no formal, organized advertising.

You're talking customer acquisition costs I think. That's still a bit of a complex question because you're generalizing and not targetting.

But in general if we assume we are talking about a customer who has signed up for a site and what am I willing to pay to get him, then that too varies by site and potentially by source.

How many people in this business can even tell you what the average revenue per customer is? And if you know that, do you know what your lights on costs are and how that gets factored across those customers? Do you know your churn? That too impacts acquisition costs.

In many site configurations in this business there are certain percentages that come right off the top of every subscription. Let's forget affiliates for a minute, that's the obvious one. But in many many cases there are royalty agreements with the content being provided whether that's a model or a studio situation like VOD.

Lots to figure in. Assming it's being played straight up, no shave, no funny business with the charges or the numbers, I'm gonna guestimate that for most healthy sites a customer is worth somewhere between $20-30 bucks. Whether it's closer to $20 or $30 is going to depend on how fast and loose they are with upsells largely.

Oh for gawd's sake guys.....

It's not that complicated a question. Let's not apply a slide rule and a shrink.
No focus group, no nielsens, no guarranteed sexual tendancies. (Although MANY are "fetish inclined" of one type or another.)

If you actually READ the parameters...this is raw people here......just raw people. The only givens you have are, they own a PC, have internet access, and spend an above average amount of time online.

They are also probably socially "regressed" a bit, so more on the "geeky" side.
Again, I'll repeat, you don't know that they have EVER bought an adult website membership. (Odds are they have, but for sake of argument, assume they have not.)

I'm not asking you to donate a kidney here, or promise a contract.....just an off the cuff answer. Consider this "ad purchase" a new untested market.
There are no claimed 1:500 or 1:253. As if any of those are ever true.

You're not talking customers then you're talking eyeballs.

A customer is someone who buys something.

Totally unqualified eyeballs aren't worth much these days. So what would I pay for a raw click? Fractions of a penny....if I could get the fraud out.
