a little help for paysite owners

I recently had a member contact me about our video downloads. He said each video only downloaded about half way and then would stop. It happened every time. We checked everything we could think of until I told him how to do a tracert. That turned up 2 timed out hops between him and the server. What could I do?
I found this 100% free download utility that supports resume, no spyware/malware/adware and they only require that they send e mails with a strict 'no spam' policy
No ref code here, this is meant to be helpful and not profitable :)

This is interesting. Are you ScreaM?

If not, you might find this odd. http://www.ynot.com/index.php?name=P...topic&t=118532

Will the real author of this information please stand up?

I wrote this thread and then handed it off to ScreaM because I feel like it really can be helpful paysites owners when they get customer complaints due to servers resetting their connection. I have quite a bit of work to get done and ScreaM posting it still exposes our program :D

I guess the problem I have with it is that Scream is posting it like he's the one that wrote it and is providing the helpful information. But as it turns out I guess the motive wasn't really to be helpful after all.

It helped Spaz and Royal Cash and could be helpful to other programs with the same issue...

Nothing wrong with blatant self promotion accompanying helpful information..

There really is not much real altruism in this world...:okthumb:

I just have a problem with deception. It has nothing to do with a little self promotion, I was kidding about that part.

I'm old, but not cynical enough to believe that.

My purpose in my original post was not to hassle Spaz, but to point out to him what appeared to me to be some plagiarism of his post. At the time I had no idea that Scream worked for him.

From birth till death it is all deception, illusion, made up phony bullshit.

There is no reality except that which you choose :whistling

Damn yall must be having the same heat wave we are in Atlanta.

I just avoid the board when it gets this hot.

spazlabz 08-24-2007 11:45 AM

Re: a little help for paysite owners

wow, this is just silly.
I wrote it because I had just went through about a week worth's of bullshit because a member simply could NOT download any of our videos all the way. It was a mystery to me until I instructed him to do a tracert. Sure enough, there were two timeouts in the hops.
My wife suggested this FREE DOWNLOAD program and I thought it was pretty cool and it might help other webmasters as well. I did not have time to bounce from board to board to post this so I pointed ScreaM to this thread and told him to post it on other boards........ period
there certainly wasn't any deception intended and the intent was totally innocent

hey the reality is that if ScreaM were to jump into a thread and say FUCK YOU ______! he is still promoting our program. Thats kind of what we pay him for heh heh

You hid under the covers a lot as a child didn't you Hammer :D

Not sure what the last post was for since I already explained that I was not aware that scream was working for you and thought I was doing you a favor by letting you know he'd plagiarized your post on another board.

Nope, never hid under any covers and don't hide from anyone now either. I'm one of the few webmasters that has the balls to use his real photo instead of fake avatars. Go to the shows too and it's kind of hard to hide when everyone has already seen my face.

I guess I worded that where it could have been taken a number of different ways.. I meant it... in a joking way... that since you saw 'a bad guy' (my term not yours) around every corner it seemed, that you must have saw monsters when you were a kid

The fact that you didn't kind of amazes me because I distinctly remember the ghosts that hung out in my bedroom at night when I was in the first grade. I used my mom's flashlight to kill them and they could never find ME when I was in my fort (fluffy pillows and a blanket draped overhead LOL

Oh, I had monsters in my closet and under my bed, I just never hid under the covers. I was afraid to put my feet on the floor sometimes though because I thought the monster under the bed would grab my legs.
