Adult Industry Safe Zones
So, we're building this new factory in a hostile environment. We're gonna tough it out for at least a few years, as I have a huge investment in the facility, but I don't rule out the possibility of moving at some point.
I see that many adult people are in Florida, Vegas, San Francisco, Various parts of Canada, and parts of Southern California. Where abouts are you, and why do you feel safe (legal wise) living/working there? |
Re: Adult Industry Safe Zones
Well I'm not sure how the laws and regulations work at USA, Northern Hemisphere, Terra, 3rd of nine, Sol System, Milky Way Galaxy, Far from Galactic Core? :)
But I will admit I've lived in allot of places, And besides Alaska, I'm gonna say Tampa Bay is probably my 2nd favorite place. Especially being involved in Adult Entertainment, I find the county laws are more lenient "as also in Alaska" when it comes to Adult Entertainment, and I find my possibilities and opportunities here allot more vast and amp for this type of business. :okthumb: at least in comparison to many other cities and states I've lived in. |

I'm in South Central PA, Part of the Amish country. It's not the Amish that are the problem, they don't care what anyone else does as long as you leave them alone. |

But yes mostly 90% of Florida is either full of small town retires or otherwise larger cities with harsher laws and rules on this sort of entertainment. There's a perfect example with Mr. Ray Guhn. Escambia county is not one to mess around with. Alaska is a bit different, It's very laid back state. Crap? prostitution is practically legal there :okthumb: Head down 27th & Spenard in Anchorage, it's full of cat houses ran as legal business. It's almost a sorta: "Don't ask, Don't tell" kinda laws then it comes to these types of adult matters. LOL :) |
Re: Adult Industry Safe Zones
I work from home, I have never thought about being "safe" or not because of my job, no matter where I live

Re: Adult Industry Safe Zones
I live in vancouver and feel totally safe. If the Sweets took on the government and won, then you can pretty much do anything here. It is also a pretty liberal west coast city and Canada has a long history of free speech.

Re: Adult Industry Safe Zones
I live in Miami and I've never really considered Florida "unsafe" for the industry. Yes, we have our share of retirees but the only problem I see with the elderly in Florida is they can't drive worth a shit. Florida is home to many adult industry peeps and even some storied "personalities" that should've been in the industry. I remember about 10 years ago there was a police chiefs wife that was arrested for prostitution. She kept a list of all the muckity mucks she bedded and their charge. Her husband apparently filmed them from the closet. When she was arrested she did the worst thing possible. She opened her mouth to "explain." Her explanation was that she was on anti depressant medication that made her more "amorous" which of course leaves the logical person to say - "Fine, so you were horny and wanted to fuck alot, but did the meds make you CHARGE them too?"
Now I may have that story a bit wrong but it's the general gist. |
Re: Adult Industry Safe Zones
I dont think there's any place in the U.S. you should feel totally safe. Florida safe? Ask Ray Guhn.
I personally take the canary in the coal mine approach. I want lots of people in the industry both local and national who are pushing the edge of the envelope a lot harder than I am. I love the Steve Sweets and Max Hardcores of the world. Also one thing I've always done dating back to the BBS days in the 80's...I'll never sell anything that is more hardcore than what I can buy on the shelf at the convenience store around the corner. That is one of my benchmarks for the old "community standards" criteria. |
