Back in '96, 2 very close friends of mine went through a divorce. In the end, I ended up with neither of them being friends with me any longer. Each of them pretty much required their friends to pick a side. Since I was friends with both of them and I did not pick a side, I ended up out in the cold as far as they were concerned.

This past year has pretty much been the same thing for me with the gonzo version of Oprano and the old guard. I don't think anyone ever explicitly stated that I had to pick either or, but the pressure was there just the same.

Over the weekend, I decided, screw that. I am not playing that game.

I enjoy Oprano and have for a very long time. I also enjoy the online company of Serge, Vick, CJ, etc...

So, as of today, I am back to posting on Oprano as my old regular old fart self. I also plan to keep my ties to the old guard.

If anyone has a prob with that, tough, it's your problem, not mine. I am not going to choose sides. I will not participate in Gonzo/Oprano bashing. I will not participate in Old guard bashing.

Unless pushed to the corner by either the current Opranaught population or the oldguard, I will not defend either side. I have decided that I really have no bones in that fight.

I like to come to Oprano to bullshit around. I like to get advice from those more knowledgable than myself when needed, I like to provide a helping hand when I can and I can always get into a nice frothy piss match just to past the time away.

So, that is why I am back here posting today.

Anyone that has a problem with it, well like Lens would say, Go fuck yourself.

Now, I need to figure out what to do with 70 or 80 domains to get some cash going. 2007 is starting off as a crappy year financially with a shit load more going out than has come in during the first 2 weeks.

Pretty much where we left off. Holidays are busy times for me. When you feel better I have a few fixes and a little work. Nothing major but at least you know the system. I'm in no hurry. Also while out pushing those domain names you can add mine to your list and I'll give you a comission.

my goal for 2007 is to have my hands in as many pots as my brain will allow...so far I only have 1 paysite and a bunch of free shit....I want more paysites, and more of a variety of free sites

Pushing those domain names? :) If you mean pushing them for sale, I am not planning to do that unless I can make a good piece of coin on them. As far as I am concerned I have some pretty good names for building stuff on. You have some GREAT names as far as I am concerned and I wouldn't think you were wanting to sell them.

So, do you mean pushing traffic to them?

Also, back last spring when some folks were saying that I didn't have anything going on adultwise I kept my mouth shut on our project (which I always do, I don't need an NDA to assume one) and I don't think we have ever seen it posted here. Is it ok to post the url?

But as time passes, those couple of years mean nothing. And the casualites from those days were copius. That is why I laugh at the Mayflower bullshit because no one cares. In fact time moves so much faster today that this shit is irrelevant much quicker. I work with folks that were ten years old in 1998. You think they give a fast flying fuck? To them the internet is like a phone. It has always been there and the "pioneers" mean nothing. Now all the old colonel blimps are sitting around telling "whenwe" stories about what a big noise they were back in the "old school" day. I just shake my head and laugh.
I do think, even though I don't like him much, that 12 clicks for whatever reasons decison to step into the new century with his olden days experience takes some balls. This should be interesting.

Hmm. never done gay sites and right now I don't have much adult side traffic (have plenty of mainstream though)

I will pretty much be starting my traffic generation up from scratch.

Current (un detailed) plan is to put all my adult domains together (except the blog domains) and run them all from an integrated database. Already working on that.

Then there is the project (damn I hate that word) that I told you about quite a while back, go the db structure in place on that and a lot of the script work done but then I was laid up for a while and have not gone any further on that one, but that is numer 2 on the list.

Then I need to get my adult blog domains going, I have put that number 3 because coming up with good original blog content for that isn't easy to automate. I might, when working on number 1 start up the blogs just feeding them from rss to get traffic going but in the long run I think a "real" blog will produce a lot higher quality traffic.

Now i am adding a number 4 which is to get some gay traffic going because I should have been doing that a long time ago.

Then number 5 is some scripts that I have domains for but need to get written.

And of course in there I will be support for Jan on paper jewels and weekend jewelry and helping her do something with the 10 other (or so) jewelry domains we bought.

Yep, 2007 is going to be dedicated to a lot of work...lol.

ok, add titsasspuss.com to that. I had let it go a while back but just went back out and bought it again. Still have the whole domain set up on the server so it should be live again once the dns does the old roll around.

It has a bunch of niche tgp pages fed by remotethumbs, I think I have them set to text mode (changed from thumbs when the new 2257 shit went into effect) but I will see when the dns updates I guess :)

If pornbandits is still up I think I still have it set up to trade at about 30% :)

Gonna have to go in and update a bunch of links, but for right now I can throw it to google and yahoo and let the spiders in.

Doesn't matter. Strictly imho, I think just about any domain name could "make it" if done properly. While the one you mention doesn't have much brandability, it does have good se qualities.

Google, Yahoo, Alexa, Youtube all are good brandable domains, but the names by themselves really mean nothing.

Most of the folks that I know in the biz are fairly small timers, not necessarilly going for the brandability, just trying to get traffic to send to those who are going for the brandability like Lightspeed, Bangbros, etc.

I have a couple of very brandable domains that I hold very tightly to my chest until I can either afford to treat them as they should be treated or the opportunity comes along to sell them for a decent return.

I picked titsasspuss back up, not because it is a great domain name, but because I already had it built and sitting there and if I put it on to another domain I would have a whole lot of editing to do before I could get it back up.

If you own websites, branding should be your focus. It is like a jingle on the radio. It lingers in the mind. It makes money. I have always kept that at the forefront of my marketing.

Brandability is always a good thing in marketing, however google doesn't give a damn about brandability for the most part. (and I know I am not telling you anything you don't know) But search engines rule the web and most of the time folks click on search engine links because of the text returned, not because of the domain name.

I have always tried to go for brandable names and good se names and a lot of the time, those two are not mutually compatible.

I absolutely agree with what you are saying. However, my idea about branding is not just locked to domain names. If you work at the boutique end of the business, word of mouth is very important to your success. Not a new concept in business. So in my world, my branding is kind of viral.

Over the last couple of years I have found that the name of a site doesnt mater in terms of typein traffic in most cases. Theamount of money you pay for a premiium name could be better spent onf promotional and traffic campaigns.

That being said the name then becomes important as a matter of branding. You want those people to be able to remember the name to come back.

Remember when the goal was to get a surfer to clikc on anything to get them off your site to make you money or exchange traffic?

Banwidith has become so cheap that the point is moot.

You should see some of the prices for domain names for this auction tomorrow. Some of these people are out of touch with reality.

I don’t care. To be honest tho I hate os-fucking-date or at least the way its working for me. The search thingy sucks and the members always complaining. I can damn sure drive some traffic when I put my mind to it. I love the model, this community stuff with upsells but its all gotta work right. You did a great job with what you had but we need something different.

The product I’m interested in is Dolphin by boonex.com – this with their Video Chat script called Ray. I would like to move femsupreme to this and although almost everything is free there is an upgrade to paid to view shit they can see in front of their noses but can’t completely view without the upgrade. In addition I have lost of free content and upsells so even when my member sales are low my affiliate checks fill in the gaps. Today if you don’t diversify you can’t make it. I don’t care what anyone says.

If I can get the right model working nicely with good slick CMS I would spit out more niche community sites.

As for the domains… yes I’ll pay you a commission and I only meant that if you were passing around a list of yours to include mine. I have domains like:

I agree with Gonzo to a degree but I also know that people remember names. If your brand is unique and a good niche then your user will remember. People have followed me for years- the name and brands have a lot to do with it.

Pretty interested some of it and some shit. I took a break over the holidays but resuming next week. Orginally it was intended as femdom only but I have getting email like crazy to open it up. I have a domain kinkytalkradio.com and really love doing the shows. I could do 3 or 4 shows a week once we get the right sponsors.

The traffic on radio is great if you have a good show. We don't get a lot of live listeners or calling in's yet maybe because of my time slots but I am amazed at how many people download the archives.

Actually Gonzo this is really what I want to do- host live sex shows- interviews and special promotions. I hosted a radio show many years ago in South Florida and really enjoyed it. Obviously it was a bit progressive for the airways and with all the censoring I stopped doing it.

Originally when I did Blog Talk it was simply another service for my sites and I figured that I would pick up a few good niche site sponsors. Blog talk is not the perfect venue but I will tell you that people love to download these shows. In fact I did a survey for feed back on content and listening time. Most people downloaded to listen later and a large % listened more then once. At least 20% sent the link or file to a friend.

I really enjoy doing these and would like to find one or two large companies that would like to sponsor shows. I’ve been in the sex industry over 20 years and although my expertise is fetish/bdsm its not all I know. Personally I think a show would be great for a sex toy company or company selling products to both men and women because I noticed that a lot of women really enjoy the audio shows.

Other companies that could benefit from live interviews would be dating sites and even cam sites where the cam girls are interviewed and archives of these streamed. I invited a guy to interview me, lol- on my own show and afterwards I got a ton of email and paid calls.

I love it! I want to do more. I'll even trade for it. I'm a junkie.

Now, my philosophy with weekend jewelry and paper jewels is completely different. I want them to stay until they find something they want to buy. According to alexa we run about 63 page views per user right now (and yes, I knw that is a very tenuous number). We want folks to make themselves at home and look at everything there, just like someone going into a brick and mortar and spending a couple of hours making their choices. But that is because we are selling our own products there.

On the adult side I see my primary goal being getting them to click through to a sponsor with the full intention to buy from that sponsor and I don't want to give them any more content than I have to.

Difference between a digital product and a tangible I guess.
