Love Shack Opens Amid Legal Battle

Shortly after opening, The Love Shack, a 10,000-square-foot adult video and novelty retail establishment, will begin its federal case against Fulton County, which has refused to give the store its business license.

Lots of very religious money in that area.

I don't get opening something just to piss people off. Yes, he'll have customers. But why make yourself an enemy of your neighborhood when others are more than willing to accept you?

Proving a point just to prove a point sometimes doesn't have a point.

Peaches, you of all people should recognize that a fight is only a good fight when someone will fight with you. If the good people of Johns Crossing or what ever they named that place would have left him alone he would have been quiet and no trouble. But HELL NO... not in MY town.

I have been watching this fight brew for months now. I know Mr. Cornetta will fight with all he's got ( and i hear that is bunches) and can borrow to keep this store open....

...only because they are telling him he can't.

Go John... I personally plan to go and visit the store to donate my dollars for the cause.

Yeah, but I've made it a rule for me to never be where I'm not wanted. He's not wanted. Lots of sports stars, celebrities and folks with lots of $$$, while probably buying the stuff online, don't want him across the street from where they take their kids shopping. With 2 beautiful nieces who would be included in that group of kids, I'm on John's Creek side ;)

I think he deserves the right to run his business where he can, but sadly I think the rich ones will win this cause...eventually. But, I think Cornetta will go down kicking and screaming and costing them money the entire way.

And... if he is not wanted he will not have business and will have to close one way or another.

The religious right is a very vocal minority in this town....and more and more all over the country unfortunately. Just because they're noisy and the people who want to play with their toys and watch their porn are not does not mean they're the majority.

John has gone thru this in many communities. Our favorite store with the giant "wall of dildos" in Peachtree Corners was fought as well. John considers it good grand opening advertising, let's everyone know that it is there.

If the community truly doesn't want it, let them vote with their wallets instead of thumping their bibles.

If you ever go into one of these stores out in the burbs, it's not guys in trench coats. It's average people, males and females, people of diverse backgrounds and incomes.

I feel the same about his store as I do my sites and living in the community I live in. If you dont like 'em, dont surf to them. Every adult site I've ever done is constructed in a manner where you're not going to "accidently" see so much as a tit. Same is true of John's place....Granny aint gonna stray in there expecting to find knitting supplies.

Some strip club right now John J is sitting and laughing about it all.

I love how he took it to another notch by saying this will be the flagship store!

Matt Collins said that it doesnt matter what time of the night he passes that new store .... it has a parking lot full of car s.

I disagree with Peaches... KEEP THE MONEY IN THE COMMUNITY!:1jack:

Again, I bet if he started asking the zip codes of the shoppers, he'd find out there are less from John's Creek or even Alpharetta than from elsewhere.

He's not wanted by the neighborhood. Just common decency and respect for the feelings of others should have kept him out. But from what I've heard, those aren't his strong points. :)

No, but it's a huge store right in the middle of stores where families shop. There's no way to block the kids from seeing it, there's no way to stay next to the computer and make sure your kids don't pass it by.

When your 8 year old daughter wants to know what kind of store it is and why she can't go in there since it seems so popular, let me know - because THAT'S what thousands of parents are having to deal with. The "vibrator" discussion usually doesn't happen between kid and parent. :okthumb: Religion really doesn't enter into it - I just metioned there's a lot of religious money there. I doubt the Atheist wants to explain to little Janie what an adult sex store is either.

And dude, there are 40+ year olds like yourself who shop there and buy sex toys for teens (18-19). Don't be jealous that you don't have a trench coat :whistling

Wait... Cornetta says he doesn't qualify as an adult store, by less than 25% of his inventory being adult oriented.

I am sure little Janie will not look into the windows and see the great wall of dildos.

Wait, that is an assumption. I will do research this week and let you know for sure.

We need to compare notes, we have some questions on what exactly you're supposed to do with some of the things we saw in there.

You know we're simple meat and potatoes southern boys, we are slow to figure these big city things out.

I'd take that bet on the zipcodes.

You have to drive by 5 luv shacks or similar on the way up there if you're coming from town. Only non-local zip codes I'd expect in there are your fellow mountain folks from Dawson county and beyond as that would be the first one they'd hit coming south.

In which case, he's providing them a service, and a desired one, by not making them drive to Marietta or Norcross, you should be able to relate to that.

Yeah, last thing we'd want is parents to take care of their own kids. Let's make sure we get as much government and regulation involved to try to protect us from ourselves and throw individualism, personal freedom and self responsibility right out the window so we can live in a nice safe government controlled environment.

There's no "window displays". I'd need to refresh myself on exactly what the sign says, but it's something like adult novelties and gifts. The one in norcross also mentions something about smoke as their's a head shop in the back. They sell water pipes...not bongs, but water pipes.

I'm pretty sure my parents would've answered with "that's a store for grown ups".

Which would have even MORE intrigued you to get in there - as with most kids ;)

What's the age limit of who can enter the store?

Interesting since "Cornetta says he doesn't qualify as an adult store, by less than 25% of his inventory being adult oriented." yet not even adults - 18 year olds - are allowed in.

Liquor stores have product that is only intended for adults as well, should we move all of them out of Johns Creek as well?

Children are allowed in liquor stores if they are accompanied by an adult. And there are TONS of laws about when liquor stores can be open and where they can be located. Not to mention there are a LOT of areas in GA where there are no liquor stores - because the people don't want them there. Ellijay just had a pour by the drink vote for liquor and it was voted down. Let the people vote if they want an adult store there or not. Going by the town meetings, they aren't wanted there.

Seriously, remember, I WAS one of those housewives in what's now John's Creek and the equally snobby East Cobb. The demographics there wouldn't be caught dead in that store. They WILL drive to the one in Norcross or Sandy Springs, but they don't want to run the risk of anyone they know seeing their car in the lot. Most order over the internet anyway. ;)

And these same housewives likely would not approve of pornographers living in their neighborhood either even though it's in our own homes and not bothering anyone. And you can bet they'd flip totally out if there was a child living in the house.

Same things that protect John J's ability to do what he does allows us to do what we do as well.

And the same people you're agreeing with would consider any one of us to be pond scum because of our relationships to the porn biz.

Which is EXACTLY why I never broadcast what I did for a living. I certainly didn't open a store across the street from where the people who would judge me would be grocery shopping.
