make money off of a nerdy amateur

Gonzo has been encouraging me to stop by and post here, so here I am. I'm Anna and I run http://www.nerdpr0n.com, and have recently launched my affiliate program, Nerd Cash. I've got a single-girl mostly-softcore site with an unique hook appealing to the dorks and nerds on the internet ;) I offer 50% initial and recurring, and my program has FHGs, zipped galleries, stuff for bloggers, banners galore and more on the way and a bio section. I'm very quick about returning emails and am willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have what you need to promote my site!

Here are a couple of small pictures so you get an idea of the kind of stuff I do:

btw, you have as ass load of traffic leaks on your site, most affiliates won't touch your site with a 10 foot pole if they know that this page is there for them to lose money on - http://www.nerdpr0n.com/links.php

Welcome to the board Annalogue... I adore the trekker unifrom and that binary pic is very cool...

I have a question just out of curiousity, but are you hard core geek? I mean can you get into a hyper tech discussion with your member base?
do you live for Star Wars?
" " Star Trek? Whats your fav? original, TNG, DS9, voyager or Enterprise?
tape your glasses?
Plastic or vinyl pocket protector?
anatomy = biology or great fun?

Two great piosts by jace and spaz.

1- the traffic leaks. Jace is correct in that many people will stay away if they know they are going to a page with those leaks. If it goes to a seperate page that's cool and make sure people know that.

2- nerdy girls ARE hot. :>)) To RETAIN those members though, and that extremely important as a 50/50 program, people gotta actually believe and see the "nerdiness" as well as the nakedness.

Yes, I can hold an intelligent conversation, and I'm a fan of hard sci-fi, if that means anything. I'm much more into Star Trek than I am Star Wars, I prefer TNG, I prefer to buy new pairs (I have 3), and anatomy AND biology are both fun. I get these questions all the time and I wonder why it's so outlandish that a girl can do all these things - but then, the freak-show factor is part of the draw to my site. My fan base can pick up on my intelligence from my interactions with them and the way I design my shoots. Someone who WASN'T a geek wouldn't know how to put together a Cthulhu shoot and someone who WASN'T a geek wouldn't have a bookcase full of gaming books in the background.

That is a good point about the traffic leak, but I'm not really sure what to do about it. There are a lot of places that require recips, and I do see those places as necessary exposure, but unfortunately there are a lot of places that have rules about having hidden pages of links that nobody will ever see. Rock and a hard place, in that situation.

The solution is elegantly simple, an alternate tour for affiliate traffic. Simply duplicate your existing tour but without the leaks.

Glad you replied... now onto an observation

The tone of your reply seemed maybe... oh I don’t know... a tad defensive, as if I was maybe accusing you of being a poser or something...

1) I don’t know you so I would have no way of knowing if you were a poser or not... By your answers, snippy though they may come across, I can see your not

2) I asked those questions for my own personal edification... as the answers could very well be a turn on for me (I agree that TNG is good, but I prefer the raw grittiness of DS9)

3) if almost 40... So your unique look does not scream 'Geek' or 'Nerd' or 'Bookworm' or even 'Dork' to me..... the look in your sample images screams 'almost goth' but I have no doubt that you are making sales... no doubt at all... again, I love that next gen uniform pic :)

I don't know how you apparently leaped to the conclusion that I was implying you weren't a geek but quit it! Quit it now! LOL

Yeah, no offense meant dear. Just making as general observation. In this business I could see someone trying for the unique angle and not really being into it bvut for a chance to differentiate themselves and make money. Obviously that's not you! :okthumb: Knowing this I have no doubt your site retains extremely well.

And Toby is correct. A second ladning page that is leak free for affiliates solves the problem nicely. It will GREATLY increase your chances of getting new affiliates if you make one.

Re: make money off of a nerdy amateur

I didn't mean to sound snippy - most of the time, when I get those questions, it's in the context of "I don't think you're really a geek, prove it", so I was answering from within that context. :P

The link to the links page has been removed from the tour entirely, which I think is a good enough compromise for the moment. I'll be putting together a couple of alternative tours over the next few days as well - why not? Thanks for the tips.

simple, you create two tours, one type in and one affiliate

when anyone goes through the affiliate links they get the affiliate tour that has no traffic leaks and is purely selling your site

the type in tour is the one we see right now

Your site got a pretty good review from my writer but I hadn't seen all those traffic leaks.
