I walk the line

Who's planning on seeing this?
From what I have read, Joachim Phoenix does an outstanding job, and does all the singing parts as well.

I'm going to check it out.

I've been waiting for this flick almost since I heard it announced...if anyone can pull off a young Johnny Cash, it's Joaquin Phoenix

It's on my "wait for it on cable" list.

I'll probably not see it until the home release. The munchkin saw it advertised adn wants to see it with me. But that is one I'd have to pre-screen beforehand, so it's not a theater type of movie for us.

I'll put it on the blockbuster.com list when it's available. I love Joaquin Phoenix. I really liked "The Village," especially the "extras" on the DVD. One of the actresses had such nice things to say about him. :)

I thought "the village" sucked.

I guessed it very early on.

I think the story was excellent but the film sucked ass.

uh oh, another movie we agree on...sign of the apocolypse? ;-)

I think M. Night Shamalaladudewhatshisname is the most overrated director in Hollywood right now...I hated the Village, felt Signs was crap and wasn't a huge fan of The Sixth Sense (a twist ending does not a good movie make or something like that...for my money The Eye and Stir Of Echos had similar stories with better execution)

Shit this worrying....

I think he is really overrated.

And his signature "twist" was just soooo blatently obvious in "The Village"

Reese Witherspoon is supposed to be great in it also. Apparently before Johnny and June died they had approved the casting of Reese and Joaquin so that def gives me hope for a great movie.

I just watched Vanity Fair on HBO and Reese actually has quite a pretty singing voice.

yup, if they hadn't mentioned a twist, it might have been an effective twist...he seems to just come up with a twist ending and build his story around that rather than the other way around...I hate when movies are marketed as "don't miss the twist ending"...for fuck's sake, if you told me there is a twist ending, then is it really a twist? For me, one of the great twist endings was The Wicker Man.

Ya know , Overall I still rate Shawshank Redemption as the best allround film

Wicker Man was good. Surprised the hell out of me too. Not too many people know about that movie though for some odd reason.

For me, it's still Glenagarry Glen Ross, but Shawshank is definitely up there...great all around, from the acting to the story to even the technical stuff (cinematography, music, etc.).

I recently picked up the special edition DVD and am constantly surprised that this movie wasn't a huge box office hit.

Yeah, there is a remake currently shooting with Nicholas Cage in Vancouver. The original ran recently on Sundance Channel and I heard there is supposed to be a special edition DVD (finally) hitting the shelves with the complete uncut version of the movie.
