Ok explain this to me...

Me and the wife got off on one of our "think" sessions the other night and this question bugged us. A mirror is a flat surface correct? It is reflecting everything at the same rate, from the same flat plane. Why is it then, that people with glasses can't see things in focus that are far away without wearing their glasses? Shouldn't everything be reflected at the same time since it's all coming off the same flat surface? Thus, making everything in focus for a person who wears glasses? Think about that...

Dude.. That is heavy dude. Whoa, like maybe mirrors aren't reflections at all man. Like, maybe, if we smoke enough of this we can go do one of those through the looking glass things you know ?

Not sure where you get that stuff that goes through glasses is reflected... it's refracted...

No I know that. I am saying that the reflection from the mirror is coming off the mirror at the same time. The mirror is a flat surface so all the reflections should be the same distance from a persons face, thus putting everything into focus at a certain distance from any person who wears glasses, but it doesn't work that way. There is "depth" that exists in the mirror, even though it's a flat surface.

Once any object hits the mirror to be reflected, it is equal with all other objects in the mirror, or so it should be, but it's not. These are the things that drive me crazy...

Simple answer is that the mirror is not "seeing" anything. You are with your vision looking into the mirror and seeing what is behind you. So your eyesight, be it good or bad, is what is seeing things in the mirror. If you can't see things that are far away you won't be able to see them in the mirror any differently.

If you aim an out of focus camera at a mirror you will get an out of focus picture.

I remember having this problem when I was into photography as a hobby (back when I had time for an actual hobby) and was taking a photo of a woman reflected (refracted?) in the mirror, that in low light there was depth of field (ruined the shot).
