Big people. Small cars.
I'm very observant. I like to take everything in.
One thing that escapes logic is how as someone's size increases their car decreases in size. It seems that the size of car someone buys is inversely proportional to their body size. I see big people, HUGE people driving things like Hyundai Accents, Civics and other compacts. Yet you see an 80lb 90 year old lady driving a Cadillac DeVille. Anyone else noticed this? |

Being only 4'10" I prefer a small car that I actually feel I have control of.
When I was in college my dad had given me his old station wagon. I had to look through the steering wheel and my friends all told me that it looked like no one was driving. After that I got a VW Beetle. :) |

I'm 5'0" and have an Exploder :) After driving SUVs for several years I don't think I could go back to a smaller car full time.

True.
Also, the quality of the music someone listens to in a car is inversly proportional to the volume they are playing it at. (this sentence is a nightmare) |

I have them all except the 3 Doors Down. You need to add in some Sound of Music and Air Supply. |

Reminds me of a British commercial (dunno what year it was made) I saw last week on one of those HBO adult programs about dirty commercials around the world. Basically three naked guys would stand on stage with a black draped box in front of their privates and a woman would come along and look at their cocks and guess what car each drove.
You can figure out the rest ... it was basically you hear laughs, see a big car, hear laughs, see a big car, stunned silence and collective "ooohs" from the audience while guy number three smiles proudly ... and the commercial ends showing a subcompact. ... Yes it was a real car commercial. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/smile.gif |
Re: Big people. Small cars.
Regardless of gas prices. If your ass is as wide as the car buy a bigger car. :)

Re: Big people. Small cars.
I like my truck. My '93 Lumina is 14X more comfortable than the 97 Cadillac we got rid of when we got the new Jeep.
I've driven everything from a 60 Cadillac (small aircraft carrier) and a 68 Coronet, down to a series of VW Beetles (oldest I owned was a '58, newest was a '73). When I was working in the city I liked having a small car for parking purposes, and nobody ever stole my Escort. :) When I bought the Lumina this summer I gave serious thought to a Geo Metro. If the place I went to look at it (and the guy who was selling it) didn't remind me so damned much of the opening scenes of Cujo, OR if I'd known what gas prices would be doing over the past two months, I might have done it. Well ... there was the Cujo thing, and the fact that I'm 20 years older and ... uh ... would you belive 5 or 10 pounds? ... heavier than I was the last time I drove something that small, and short trips are the exception rather than the rule most of the time when I drive. |
