From a devil's advocate point of view here, that means less clicking, which means less threadviews....

Re: Mouse over thread preview

It also makes the main page heavier to load...

Re: Mouse over thread preview

An alternative might be to somehow make it part of the users options as to whether to have it on or not.

Just a thought.

The mouseover only gave one the very first post. Now, if one is inclined to check out every thread, then come back to read the lastest posts, rereading and constantly rereading that very first post until it is committed to memory can make one desire to scream until one's eyes bleed.

Loose the farging thing.

It was lost, now we're asking who gives a shit. ;)

Oh and seeing as the poll was started by me, the "Couldn't give a rats ass" votes count as a NO. :p

Maybe, maybe not.

Depends on the user, depends more on the nature of the current threads being generated by the board I think.

In my case, when the board is dominated by really piss poor subject lines that are ambiguous at best, I use it to see if the thread is something I want to read. And if so I read it. If I cant mouse over and see what's in it, I dont click it at all.

I brought it up because of late I catch myself maybe reading no more than 1 or 2 threads per day here. I just dont have time to waste on grab bag threads.

lol

I liked it, it was a way to avoid thread commitment, if a thread had a 'less than exciting' title, I could mouseover it & quite often the contents of the first post did make me want to click on it & read the thread through, when it comes right down to it though, I really don't care either way :)

Thread commitment, that's a new one on me. I like it. ;)
