Ok, this thought came to me long ago at a bar. And it came up again last night at the bar. Natch, pretty much everyone there agreed with me. hehe Now, let's see how well bar logic / talk works in the real world. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/smile.gif

I came up with the notion that there are only 256 "master molds" of people in the world.

First, why that number? I decided it has to do with binary, has to have some sort of structure to it. 128 seemed a bit low. 512 too high.

Ok, what do I mean? I mean there's basically 256 "molds" that gets pressed and that everyone is some sorta of variation on the theme. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/smile.gif

To explain it better, ever see someone who looks like someone else? Reminds you of someone else? Who you see and you say, "that could be so-and-so's brother if he had one"?

Or, you know, she reminds me of a heavy Barbara Streisand? Or if that guy had hair he'd be a ringer for Danzel Washington? And we've all seen those "seperated at birth" photos side-by-side ...

OK...I am totally weirded out.

First of all, I don't go to bars. Haven't been to a bar since I was in my 20's...and that was a good, long time ago. I rarely drink. Hence, I am very unfamiliar with "bar talk."

What I'm weirded out about is the sheer number of times I've turned to my husband - or he to me - and said at the television set "he could be so-and-so's younger brother." Or older brother. Or even "cousin," if the resemblance needed an extra gentic jog sideways. It's something we do a lot and kills time during mediocre television shows or movies.

256 molds. Based on the binary system. Once the molds and all the variants thereof are used, they rotate back to the beginning. Seems logical.

OK, Mr. Wizard, since you started this, solve the equation for "x." How many variations are there?

It's funny. I'm always seeing certain people. Last night at the bar, one guy looked like Toolz. Another looked like a slimmed down Headless. On the television, saw two instances of "Brad Shaw's brother".

Next to me was a guy who looked like Gary Busey from 20 years ago (if you squinted). Fellow right next to him looked very much like Bill Cosby; we were kidding him that instead of having on a Mets cap he should have been wearing a Temple Owl's one. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/smile.gif

Oh yeah and it all started when the bartender swore I looked like Philadelphia Eagles President Joe Banner.

Which, while I disagree. Overall, yeah, considering the "mold variant" concept, I have to admit there's a slight resemblence.

The funniest one ever was when I was shopping at Walmart with my son to buy a birthday present for his friend's birthday party.

We were in the toy isle and suddenly this little girls about 3 years old started freaking out and pointing at me. "Look mom!!! Its Barbie!!! Loooook Mom!!!"

Everyone was staring at me I think my 10 year old son wanted to crawl in a hole.
